1. Overview
WorkCell is a productivity Chrome extension designed to help users create focused workspaces for managing tasks, tracking goals, organizing resources, scheduling breaks, running timers, and enforcing website blocking.
We are committed to user privacy. WorkCell is built to operate locally on your device without collecting, transmitting, or monetizing your personal data. WorkCell does not utilize any third-party analytics, remote trackers, or telemetry scripts.
2. Information Handled by WorkCell
All data processed by WorkCell is generated directly by you and handled locally to provide core productivity features:
- Workspace Configurations: Custom workspace names, layouts, goal entries, task lists, and notes you create.
- Focus & Break Timers: Duration settings, intervals, and timer states for work and rest sessions.
- Resource Links: URLs and titles of web pages you explicitly save or link within your workspaces.
- Website Blocking Lists: Domain names and URL patterns you configure to be blocked during focus sessions.
- Current Tab Information: Active tab URLs evaluated solely on-device to determine if a visited site matches your blocklist or to let you add the current page to a workspace resource list.
3. Permission Usage
WorkCell requests only the minimum set of permissions necessary to function as intended:
storage
Used to store your workspaces, tasks, goals, resource lists, blocking rules, and timer preferences locally within your browser.
tabs
Used to read the URL and status of browser tabs to enforce website blocking during active focus sessions and to facilitate adding current browser tabs to workspace resource lists. Tab information is inspected solely in real time within your local browser instance and is never transmitted or logged elsewhere.
alarms
Used to schedule and trigger periodic events, such as focus timer completion notifications, break alerts, and session resets, directly inside your browser.
4. Data Storage and Retention
All user preferences, workspaces, rules, and configurations are stored directly in your browser using Chrome's built-in extension storage API.
- Your data remains on your local machine and (if enabled by your browser) synced securely via your personal Google account storage.
- We do not operate external databases, servers, or cloud storage for WorkCell.
- You can permanently delete all data stored by WorkCell at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension data in your browser settings.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
WorkCell does not sell, rent, trade, transmit, or otherwise share any user data with third parties. No data leaves your local browser environment. There are no third-party SDKs, advertising networks, or analytics tools embedded within the extension.
6. Security
Because WorkCell stores and processes all information locally inside your browser, the security of your data relies directly on your device's security and your browser's built-in sandboxing mechanisms. WorkCell does not expose network endpoints or transmit unencrypted data over the internet.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect functional updates to WorkCell or relevant regulatory requirements. Any modifications will be reflected on this page along with an updated revision date.
